Description
At times the Com Ports on a new CX5 terminals will disappear. This KA is meant to fix that issue and get the Com Ports to appear again.
Solution
To solve this issue, do the following:
- In these photos, the terminals should have multiple Com Ports, but most are missing when compared to another terminal.
- Have the Tech or Cast Member fully power off the Terminal and unplug the power cable from the bottom of the terminal.
- There is a Type-C cable that also gives the terminal power (Note: both the type-C cable and power cable are needed to be plugged in for the terminal to power on) this is located right next to the power cable. Unscrew the latch that keeps it secure and unplug it, wait about 10 seconds and plug it back in.
- Flip the terminal face down and on the back of the screen there is a part of the terminal that’s protecting where the next Type-C cable is with a cover that needs a screwdriver to remove. Remove the cover by pressing in the latch (Where the arrow is pointing) gently and taking it off.
- With a screwdriver unscrew the screws that I circled in this photo and take the next cover off.
- Once the next cover is taken off, locate the small Type-C cable that I circled in this photo and gently unplug it and plug it back in.
7. Once reseated place all covers back in the respective areas, screw and plug in all power cables and cables and power the Terminal back on. Once powered on the terminal should show all Com Ports in the Device Manager. If not contact the Service Desk to get the terminal replaced.
